President and CEO Heather Larkin ’93 Named Woman of the Year in Philanthropy
CONWAY, Ark. (September 21, 2022) — Hendrix
College alumna Heather Larkin ’93 was honored as the Woman of the Year in
Philanthropy by the Women’s Foundation of Arkansas at the organization’s 24th
annual Power of the Purse Luncheon, held today in Little Rock. The annual event
celebrates the career and philanthropic accomplishments of women and
organizations from across the state.
Larkin is President and CEO of the Arkansas Community
Foundation, an independent philanthropic organization serving donors, the
nonprofit sector, and the communities of Arkansas.
Throughout her career, she has showcased her commitment to
engaging people and connecting resources to build stronger communities in
Arkansas. Since joining the Community Foundation, she has overseen its growth
from $19 million in assets and $1.4 million in annual grants to over $600 million
in assets and $35 million in annual grants.
A native of Charleston, Larkin graduated from Hendrix with
distinction in Economics and Business. She uses her law and accounting
background to work with donors, professional advisors, and affiliate community
foundations to build philanthropic funds for the benefit of Arkansas. In 2001,
she was named a Hull Fellow and attended the Hull Leadership Program, a program
to nurture and inspire the Southeast’s next generation of philanthropic
leaders. In 2005, she was selected as one of five Americans to be a
Transatlantic Community Foundation Fellow.
Larkin was named to her current role by the Arkansas
Community Foundation Board of Directors after fellow Hendrix alumna Pat Lile
’60 announced her retirement from the role.
